The Republic of Ireland face Moldova this Friday and then Wales on Monday knowing that they have to win both games if they are to have any chance to qualify for the World Cup in Russia next year.
After drawing away to Georgia and getting beat at home by Serbia, the Republic of Ireland have left themselves with it all to do in the last two games. Ireland were in such a good position going into the previous round that to look were they are now is amazing.
Martin O’Neill’s men should be able to beat Moldova at home and should beat them comfortably, but O’Neill and his team must have been delighted to hear the news that Gareth Bale will be out for their crunch game at Cardiff.
If Ireland go into their game with Wales having beat Moldova by a couple of goals or more, then they could go into that Wales game with a lot of confidence and possibly book theirselves a place in Russia or at least have another chance with a play off game.
Republic of Ireland fans will be hoping that Ireland can get the two wins that they need in this round of qualifiers, so that they can go party in Russia next summer and support their Boys In Green.
