Tonight We’re Going To Party Like It’s 1999

On Sunday Feyenoord finally won their first Eredivisie title since 1999, they had not won a league title since the 20th Century and they finally ended that thanks to a 3-1 win against Heracles.

The victory was made that even more sweeter as Feyenoord legend Dirk Kuyt scored a hat trick in that game to secure the title.

Last week Feyenoord fans had been ready to celebrate a title win in their home town of Rotterdam, when Feyenoord faced Excelsior a small team from Rotterdam. It didn’t go to plan though as Excelsior spoiled the party by beating Feyenoord 3-0. Feyenoord’s fans were distraught as they felt that Feyenoord had blown their chance to be crowned Eredivisie champions.

In the end though Feyenoord won the title after that scare and have a very exciting young side that will be competing in the Champions League next season.

Will they have to wait another eighteen years for their next title, or will they become a dominant force in Dutch football for years to come.
