Champions League Semi Finals: Second Leg

So we finally know who is going to be in the Champions League final in Cardiff on the 3rd of June.

Real Madrid and Juventus will face off against each other in what should be one of the most exciting and interesting finals in years. Juventus have been amazing so far this season in the Champions League, and only conceded their first goal in the knockout stages in their second leg match when they won 2-1 against AS Monaco. Juventus were able to keep out Barcelona for two legs and when they were finally guaranteed a Champions League final spot did they concede a goal.

Not only have Juventus been incredible in defence this year, but they have also been fantastic in attack as well. Dani Alves has been fantastic setting up the two goals for Higuain in the first leg and scoring a screamer in the second. Paulo Dybala is another fantastic player that Juve have in attack, with his range of passing and his skills he has caused problems to most teams in the Champions League this season. You just have to watch the first leg of the Barcelona game to know how amazing Dybala is. Juventus have come through some incredibly tough games to reach the final and although they will be going into it as underdogs they will probably be many people’s favourite to win it.

Real Madrid the other team who are going to the final had a bit of a scare in their second leg when Atletico Madrid went 2-0 up after twenty minutes. Real ended the tie though when Isco popped up to score after an amazing bit of skill by Karim Benzema set him up, to score the vital away goal that secured yet another Champions League final. This will be Real’s third final in four years, having won it last year Real will be looking to become the first team to ever retain the Champions League since it’s name change in 1992. Real can look back on a lot of their games this season and wonder how they got so far, they finished second in their group behind Borussia Dortmund while also having drawn 3-3 with Legia Warsaw. They went behind in both legs in the last 16 against Napoli, they also went behind against Bayern Munich in both legs.

They have done amazing to get so far in this tournament after all the challenges they have faced, but they will come up against a Juventus side who have been unbeatable in the Champions League this season. Juventus haven’t lost a game or a tie so far this season, while losing to Atletico Madrid means that Real have finally lost a game in the Champions League.

The final should be a fantastic event pitting the best defence in the competition against the best attack. It is a hard one to call but we will find out who the best team in Europe is on the 3rd June, when the Champions League final takes place in Cardiff.
