The draw was made for the Champions League Round of 16 this Monday and the draw threw up some interesting ties.
The draw was as follows:
Manchester City vs AS Monaco
Real Madrid vs SSC Napoli
SL Benfica vs Borussia Dortmund
FC Bayern Munich vs Arsenal FC
FC Porto vs Juventus
Bayer 04 Leverkusen vs Club Atletico de Madrid
Paris Saint Germain vs FC Barcelona
Sevilla FC vs Leciester City FC
The round of 16 looks to have some mouth watering ties such as Bayern Munich vs Arsenal, PSG vs Barcelona, Manchester City vs Monaco and Real Marid vs Napoli.
Even though Arsenal finished top of their group this year to the delight of all their fans, they have been handed a game against Bayern which nearly seems to happen every year. Arsenal have drawn Bayern and Barcelona so many times over recent years that it doesn’t seem to matter where they finish they always seem to get one of the worst draws.
Meanwhile PSG who did finish second in Arsenal’s group did draw Barcelona, who they played last year in the Quarter Finals of the Champions League.
Another interesting game will be Manchester City against Monaco. Monaco who are the top goalscorers in Europe so far this season having scored 53 goals in the French League alone. Thy will be coming up against a Man City team whose defence has been terrible so far this season, so expect to see goals in that game.
And the last game I am looking forward to seeing is Real Madrid vs Napoli. Napoli have been an incredible attacking team under their manager Maurizio Sarri, with Hamsik and Milik who should be back from injury when this game comes around, in their team they have a real chance against Real Madrid.
There are plenty of matches that will keep us interested in the round of 16 of the Champions League, and with the possibly of big teams being knocked out we have the possibility of a new winner this season.
