Absolutely Müllered

Last night saw Bayern München beat Arsenal 5-1 at the Allianz Arena two weeks after Arsenal had got an amazing result and stopped Bayern’s winning run by beating them 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

The result leaves Arsenal third in the table six points behind both Bayern and Olympiacos, meaning that Arsenal have to win their two remaining matches and hope results go their way if there is any chance they will qualify for the next round of the Champions League.

The game started of badly for Arsenal as after 10 minutes Bayern were 1-0 up thanks to a Robert Lewandowski goal, two minutes later Arsenal felt they had an equaliser when Mesut Ozil scored but for the goal to be then ruled out for a handball.

Three goals from Thomas Müller, David Alaba and Arjen Robben put Bayern 4-0 up both Arsenal could reply. Oliver Giroud scored in the 69th minute to give Arsenal a consolation goal, but Müller completed the rout with his second of the match and Bayern’s fifth goal on the night.

It was a bad night for Arsenal but they will have to pick themselves up quickly as they have a North London Derby against Tottenham coming up this Sunday.
